Secret Gallery Presents Malinche, a Contemporary Art Exhibition Reclaiming the Legacy of La Malinche

Secret Gallery is pleased to present Malinche, featuring the work of 30+ Chicana, Latina, Indigenous and southwestern artists who carry forward the legacy of Malinche, also known as Malinzin or Doña Marina. Rather than revisiting her as a historical subject alone, the exhibition positions Malinche as an inherited presence: one whose strategies of survival, translation, and adaptation continue to shape the experience of women navigating language, power, and identity today.

Secret Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located inside the Arrive Hotel in Downtown Albuquerque. The gallery curates exhibitions, performances, and gatherings that highlight artists rooted in the Southwest. Through painting, pottery, sculpture, and mixed media, Secret Gallery celebrates the region’s creative voices and contributes to the growing conversation around Southwest Contemporary art.
